Who would be the audience for your media product?

My target Audience for my media product (chart music magazine) is 11-19 year olds. This is also aimed at mostly a female audience as the colour scheme is quite feminine. However, there may be a small male audience, but that is not who I am trying to appeal as they are not my priority. Chose this target audience as I fall into that category and have an understanding myself of what appeals to this audience. I am appealing my magazine at a predominantly white audience. However, I am using mixed race models in my original images which could represent diversity within my magazine. Which could bring in interest from a multi cultured audience. I have represented my target audience throughout my music magazine, seen in my front cover, contents page and double page spread.

Front coverI have represented my target audience throughout my front cover as I have used a feminine colour scheme consisting of pink, purple, turquoise and white. This can represent my target audience ad the colour scheme is very girly and is bold which could represent youth. I have also used social networking site references on my front cover like having the website name on the cover to promote a multimedia use of my magazine. My target audience are likely to use social media and could e seen as a commonly used way of interacting in their life. I have talked about style on the front cover In a plug which would appeal a female audience. I have used female models on the front of the magazine which have inspired looks form Rhianna and Taylor Swift. This links to my target audience as from the results of my questionnaire, most females who fall in the age gap of my target audience admire and loo up to these two celebrities. This is why I used these celebrities as inspirations for a styled look. I also used make up and have them a current trend style to represent youth in teenage girls as the majority of them are into keeping up with modern trends.

Contents pageI represented and appealed to my target audience in my contents page as I continued to stick to my colour scheme by using pinks, purple, white and back. This shows continuity though out my magazine as well as sticking to my target audience. Again, these are seen as feminine colours which are bold, representing youth. My model in my main image of the contents is standing in a delicate and feminine pose whist playing with her hair. She is also posing as a celebrity like Ariana Grande who teenage girls may look up to and find inspiration from. This is why it may be appealing to my target audience. I have also used a male model which my be appealing to females as well. I have also talked about the use of technology with modernised headphones which may be appealing to the youth. Also, I have used a girl band, again young females might look up to them and see them as role models. I changed the background from green to pink to fit with the colour scheme and to match the preferences of my target audience. Lastly, I have used a posh/fancy text when writing about what is inside of the magazine on the contents page. This can appeal to my target audience as it could look feminine and neat which could appeal to females. This also has a hint of sophistication which females of an older age 15+ may appreciate.

Double Page SpreadLastly, I have represented my target audience in my double page spread with the costume of my model being stylish yet unique. This represents my target audience as teenagers and youth in general seem to have a desire with keeping up to modern day trends. Yet, the music industry has had an impact to how teens should see and feel about themselves, promoting being unique and being themselves. The unique style is inspiring to teens and could encourage them to be different which is what teenagers could look up to. I stuck to my colour scheme by using pink and white. Instead of having a bold background, I thought I would go for a sophisticated finish, as most teenagers have a desire to be older and be more sophisticated. Instead of a bold background, I used Esther’s initials “ED” in a light opacity pink shade to fill the blank spaces. I also kept the pink theme going for continuity reasons as I wrote the interview questions in pink and the answers in black.
