Evaluation in CZ

•  The new phenomenon in education ????

•  Teachers don't like it because of •  Polititians and

specialists‘ preasure

Evaluation

•  Teachers don't like only the word

because

•  They use the evaluation methods every day in their job, in their institution, in their daily life

Evaluation

•  Everybody (even teachers) would like to be satisfied with his/her job, life, partner, hobbies,..

•  He/she has to compare, evaluate the current situation, to look back and forward to understand what is necessary for the next improvement

Our vision

•  At the beginning

•  At the end

The possible troubles

•  Our opinion

•  The real situation

Evaluation – the necessary base for next development

•  1st possibility –  to study scientific articles of the pedagogical

specialists as a theoretical ground for next steps

–  to use tools of other institutions (schools, universities, private companies)

+ •  the best information •  a lot of ideas •  experience •  the possibility to co-

operate with the authors

- •  wide range of articles

and tools

Evaluation – the necessary base for next development

2nd possibility •  All the activities are not based on any theoretical principles or

scientific articles

•  All made steps are intuitive steps –  They solve the current situation and appeared problems

•  „Home made“ tools

I trust only the figures

that are manipulated/ falzificated by myself

+ •  to solve the current

situation •  adrenalin sport •  good chance for new

ideas of students and staff

- •  the results shoud be

different from our aims

Safe evaluation way – not only one method

Method 3

•  questionaire •  interwiev •  discussion - the group meetings •  .. •  .. •  ..

? The evaluation methods

Only a taste of some of them ! •  Evaluation of the relationship in

•  school

•  library

•  class

•  arbitrary group

Description of Activity

•  Team work •  Chess piece positions •  Chess piece description •  Documentation •  Evaluation – systemic evaluation

The Action Atmosphere

Summary of the Systemic Evaluation

The class – the distinct restrained subsystem

Other classes – 3 classes are a part of the close subsystem, which is open (pieces can move). The rest of the classes are at different distances – indicating different relationship

The class teacher – his position is in the middle of the space near the centre of the class subsystem

The heads – the headmaster is a part of the „close“ subsystem, the deputy head is in the corner

The other teachers – the „close“ space is open, it slowly links to the wider system of the whole school

The Common Class Aspects

The subsystem of the class is clearly structured with clear boundaries.

The class teacher is a part of subsystem, he is in a hierarchic position in one case, in other cases he is in a balanced position in the context of the whole subsystem.

There is no central position (the chicks round the hen).

All the students perceive the head of the school similarly, he is in a prominent position, close to the students.

A small task Evaluation of the course atmosphere

•  Team work •  Chess piece description

–  White king + queen – you –  White pawns – other participants –  Black pawns – hosts

•  Chess piece positions – current feeling •  Documentation – camera •  Evaluation – external evaluation

Group meeting Students‘ opinions about some topics of the school life

Description of Activity •  The students were divided into groups

–  Each class could make 4 teams with 4 – 5 participants •  Moderated brainstorming

–  The leader of brainstorming explained the rules of activities

–  The leader of brainstorming determined the structure of each topic

•  Documentation – Different methods

•  Evaluation –  Evaluation was made by the leader of brainstorming –  The main ideas were chosen

Class structure Very active students

quite good ideas

Quite passive students excelent ideas

Passive students almost excelent ideas

Passive students poor ideas

Documentation

•  if not, then it is –  very difficult to remember all the ideas –  impossible to be able to feel the atmosphere in the

group after a few days –  impossible to describe the situation of the meeting to

the people that didn´t join the activity –  very difficult to compare similar group meetings

is necessary

Documentation •  RECORD

•  team members

•  atmosphere, behaviour

•  discussion

•  details

•  workshop results

•  VIDEO EDITING

•  according to the aim and viewer of presentation
