Evaluation Question Two

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Colour Scheme

I have used a consistent pink and purple colour scheme, this showsthat it is aimed at a female audience as I have used typically feminine colours, which will be likely to put off a male audience, however, many of these magazines are often aimed at a female audience, as mine has been.

This can also be seen as being aimed at a young audience as the colours used are bright and pop-esque, which appeals to young girls aged between 10 and 16. These bright colours may put off a more mature audience, however as the content is not aimed at them this would not be a problem.

Images used

The use of images of younger and attractive pop artists is likely to attract a young audience as it makes the artist relatable to them. For example using an artist such as Ariana Grande will bring in an audience of a similar age group, where as an image of Madonna will bring in a more mature audience.

This may also deter a male audience however, as if they can only see female artists they would not be as interested in buying the magazine as they may not want to read about the topics they would be talking or writing about.

Price Range

By making the magazine only cost £1.50 you are more likely to appeal to a younger audience who cannot afford to spend lotsof money on a magazine, this is also appealing as many magazines aimed at this audience can cost around double this price, averaging at around £2.99.

StoriesThe use of stories surrounding the love lives of the pop artists such as Taylor Swift is most likely to appeal to a female audience as women are more likely to be interestedin the personal love lives of the artists than men are. Therefore this would limit the amount of men who would be reading the magazine.
