What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of creating this product?Evaluation – Question 6

Blogger• The first thing I did when starting my coursework was to create a

blog. I had never used this site before therefore was unsure how to navigate around it first. However, as I began uploading posts to my blog it became a lot easier to use.

• Many of my first blogposts were simple text and images however as time progressed I wanted to develop the content of my blog by adding PowerPoint(through SlideShare), Prezi’s and videos (via YouTube). I then had to set up accounts with these websites to be able to do this.

Prezi/Slideshare• I have also used both Prezi and Slideshare in order to upload

presentation style posts to my blog. • I had to create accounts for both of these as I had not used them

before. Slideshare was simple to use as I could upload a PowerPoint to here and then upload to my blog via Slideshare.

• As I hadn’t used Prezi before this was slightly more difficult to get the hang of however I found that it was quite simple after the first presentation I created. These types of presentations are a lot more interactive and creative so I enjoyed making these for my blog to add variation to my posts.

Camera• As I filmed my preliminary on a ‘flip cam’ I found that this wasn’t

the greatest quality to capture all the action happening on screen. Therefore when filming my final product I used a Canon 1100d. This was a much better quality camera and had many more functions compared to the ‘flip cam’ such as zoom. Although I hadn’t used this camera before I found it fairly simple to use however the only difficulty I found was that it was quite heavy and not suitable for the tripod therefore wasn’t the best to get a steady shot even though I wanted a hand held effect in some shots which it was suitable for.

• To get steadier shots I used a Panasonic Lumix FS35 digital camera. This is a lot smaller and lighter, and although not as good a quality, it still filmed a decent quality shot which was good for establishing shots I filmed in London such as the street views of Piccadilly Circus.

Serif MoviePlus x6 • Although I had used this software before, I hadn’t used it to the extent in

which I had to edit my opening sequence. I had only used it basically before to put some footage together therefore I didn’t know exactly how to use it when it came to editing my final film.

• Through the process however I have learnt how to slow shots down as well as speed them up, change the brightness of a shot and the colour as well as add filter effects such as motion blur to some of the shots to make it more interesting.

• I have also learnt how to cross fade different shots so the transitions are smoother rather than quick cuts which also added more variation to the film.

• As I needed to add titles I have also learnt how to add text as well as make it have an in and out animation to make it more interesting rather than just appearing on screen.

• At first I found the software slightly difficult to use because I hadn’t used it much before however by experimenting with different things I have found it a lot easier and simpler to navigate around the programme and the functions are fairly straightforward.

YouTube• When uploading videos to my blog I found that they didn’t work

when I uploaded them directly. YouTube was the easiest site to upload videos from to my blog therefore I created an account so I could upload footage to here then to my blog. Although I haven’t uploaded to YouTube before I was familiar with the site and able to navigate around it easily therefore found it easy to use. It was also easy to upload from here to Blogger as there is an option to upload videos from YouTube on Blogger. As both used my Google Account details this meant that the steps were fast to upload videos on my blog as it lists your uploads to YouTube in which you can select what video you want to post.
