What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I researched into many different music magazines mainly of the same genre as mine in which I could find out what company distributes the magazines. This helped me find a distributer for my magazine. I looked at two media distributers Speedimpex and Capital Christian distributers. These two distributers was appealing to me as I found out that some magazines that I had recently deconstructed for inspiration towards my magazine had been distributed by these companies.

Speedimpex distributersSpeedimpex is an international media distributer which I am currently thinking of using if I was to distribute my magazine. This distributes US and none US magazines and has six distribution centres located around the US. After 47 years, Speedimpex is still one of the largest and most experienced national distributer of foreign press in America. This means that it would be reliable for me to use when distributing my magazine. However because it is so big and commonly used, it may be expensive. Although I would not distribute a lot of copies as it would only be for a young audience and may not sell a lot as it is not as big and well known as other magazines such as billboard or we heart pop. Speedimpex make sure they meet the distribution requirements of magazine publishers around the world which would be useful when distributing a magazine of my own.

Capitol Cristian distributers

Capitol Christian distributers are the distributers of a music magazine that when doing my coursework and making my product, I got a lot of inspiration from. This magazine distribution company are the worlds leading Christian music company and market leader in record music distribution and publishing. This distribution company is also part of Universal music’s Capitols Music Group. They distribute films globally.

Distributor of my magazineI would want the distributor of my magazine to be Capital Christian. This is because it distributes the most commonly known chart music magazine which is Billboard. Billboard magazine is the most familiar to my magazine as I have kept my magazines target audience quite close to theirs and this distribution company would know how to approach that target audience best, seen as they have done so well with distributing Billboard magazine for years . I have taken a lot of inspiration from Billboard magazine and found it is closer to the media product to what I want to achieve. From the distribution research between these two distribution companies in this evaluation, I would also like my magazine to be distributed globally, meaning that Capitol Christian would be better for me to use. I want to distribute my magazine globally, because, the more people see and talk about the magazine internationally, the more it will help with the distribution of my film. This should build the popularity of my magazine and hopefully it could become as big as Billboard magazine.
