What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

In order to create our film we researched various different distribution companies, which were successful in distributing horror movies with a subgenre of slasher. We narrowed our research down to 4 companies and produced a brief summary to decided which distribution company would be suitable for us. The companies and the summaries are as follows:

20 th Century Fox 20TH Century Fox is a major American film studio and Distribution Company with has achieved vast success. 20th Century Fox distributed these horror movies:

The films listed above were very successful when it came to exhibition however we decided against using this particular distribution company as when we looked at their top 10 movies none of them were horror, meaning their main specification of movies were not within our chosen genre. We did not choose this company.

New Line Cinema New Line Cinema is a parent company to Warner Brothers and has distributed horror films within our subgenre, for example:

New Line Cinema has had a lot of success with the genre of horror and the sub genre of slashers, e.g. Nightmare on Elm Street had a gross of $63,059,655 on its opening weekend. This figure alone conveys the experience New Line Cinema has with horror – slashers. We picked this distribution company, not only for its success, but also for its parent company (Warner Brothers), which is very successful.
