Media magazine evaluation 1 – in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product My magazine uses conventions from real magazine because I have followed both the layout and made sure that I have used the conventions a magazine would use. I have developed the basics of my magazine for example my title and I have added effects on it to make it seem more professional, I have adapted it behind the dominant image because this follows the conventions of the magazine (the title always goes behind because it supposed to be a well know magazine so the readers should already know the title therefore they should be concentrating on the image.) Another reason I have followed the conventions of other music magazines is by my dominant image itself, I have gone for her holding a quitter because on most acoustic music magazine the model is often holding some sort of instrument. I didn’t want her to be smiling because I believe that music is very emotional but it’s also taken serious and these are the types of feelings I wanted to create to my readers when looking at the magazine. (Also most music’s models on the front are not seen as happy or smiley they are seen as professional and serious looking.) Another reason I have followed the forms and conventions is with my splashes strap lines on the cover of my magazine these are used in every magazine ever to be created so in order for my magazine to look professional I used them however I did adapt them to suit my magazine genre. Also i included the date of my issue, the price, my magazines website and the barcode. Each of these was very small this is important as you don’t want the main thing a reader to see is the barcode etc. At the bottom of the page was my barcode and my price, and at the top underneath the title was my website name and the date of my issue. All these things are important on a magazine because it shows the professionalism and also the main things like this are needed on a magazine to extend the publicity and audience. For my contents page I followed the conventions by having again my title on the top of my page, this is because the more times a reader sees it the more times they are likely to remember it. Another ay I have used the same conventions is by having all of my text on one side of the contents page and all of my pictures on the other side,

Media magazine evaluation

1 – in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product

My magazine uses conventions from real magazine because I have followed both the layout and made sure that I have used the conventions a magazine would use.

Another ay I have used the same conventions is by having all of my text on one side of the contents page and all of my pictures on the other side, this is very common in music magazines so I followed it to make my magazine more professional however I did slightly adapt them to suit my genre of music “acoustic”.

For my article page the conventions I followed was the main image because on most music

Magazines they always have an article on the same model that was on the front cover therefore I used the same model. Another way I have followed the conventions is in my article I have a pull quote that stands out in a pink box. In most articles they always have a pull quotes to pull the

audience in because something sounds catchy or interesting.

Here is my final front cover on the left next to a professional front cover on the right, as you can see most the

conventions are the same and I’ve tried to make it as professional as possible.
