Technology used during planning and filming.

I was using that time to film and edit my trailer. The use of digital video cameras was important because without them I would not of been able to film the trailer sequences, they also helped me practice what I needed to shoot by doing a little advert beforehand in the planning stage so that I know how to use the camera. The Animated storyboard which used photo's taken from a digital video camera was important and also helped me in the planning stages because it gave me a better outlook on what the trailer would look like in its final cut in terms of the details of the settings and the placement of the characters/props. It also gave me some imagination and creativity which helped me further down the line when editing the trailer in terms of allowing me to more vividly operate with a diverse range of effects which could be used in the trailer. With the use of the digital video cameras I was able to easily get to the locations I was required to shoot the trailer in without difficulty. With expensive film productions vans are needed to transport the equipment whereas with my project the cameras were small enough to carry in my bag without difficulty. The quality of the imagery may not of been as good as a the ones used with the more expensive camera s but due to its size and portability it was helpful. Another disadvantage would be the capture of audio which was very quiet when trying to hear somebody far away on camera. I had to rely on the cameras built in microphone for audio capture.I used digital video cameras very similar to the one shown in this picture. The lack of High Definition recording was originally a disadvantage until I decided that it was work well with the style of deliberate amateur filming and trailer I was producing.

Using software and computers. When I started my research stage I used the internet in order to find the trailers I needed to begin my

research task and answers the questions provided. I used websites such as YouTube to watch the trailers both at class and at home. The majority of my research was done at home because at school Using the Macs in the research tasks was useful because they helped me get onto the internet and use various websites that the school network could not reach due to denied access. In terms iMovie for my editing process I was able to do a lot of things, including the basics such as cutting, splitting and trimming clips. I was able to edit the audio without changing the video and vise versa, there were a variety of transitions, sound and video effects at my disposal which I used to full effect. These additional effects gave a much improved and crispier image to the trailer, increasing its visual aesthetic appeal to the target audience of late teenager. Although I tried not to incorporate too many effects, because then I would be removing the ‘amateur’ style that the entire film is supposed to use.
