1. Evaluation: Question 3 What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
2. Introduction A main aspect of creating a successful
promotional package was collating audience feedback; on initial
ideas and all the way through the progression to the final
products. This ensured that the work I was creating and the
connotations of chosen genre and stat image were coming across
successfully and to the highest standard I could achieve. Primarily
audience feedback helped me keep check on what weather the ideas I
was coming up with actually looked good. To collect and review
audience feedback I got the work I wanted the feedback on up on a
computer screen, put a camera on the audience and asked a pre-
written list of questions on weather the work looked good over all;
and then also weather elements of the product gave of the correct
connotations. I did this with all three elements of my promotional
package.
4. Audience Feedback Questions This is an example of some of
the questions I asked for audience feedback. This was for the rough
cut edit of the music video. This is the video I took of the
questions being asked about my Promotional Package.

5. Minutes of the Promotional Package Audience Feedback video.
Q1. Which features on here look like a digipak? And am I missing
any? A1. Your missing logos here (gestures at the back panel) that
might be a good idea to put in Like the barcode And the institution
logo I would definitely use, and possibly copyright; which is a key
factor of any album Q2. How do my images connote the Indie-Folk
genre? A2. The filters you use are really good, and these country
ones yeah there outdoors which is really folky you also use the
smoke in this one which makes it look quite folky as well Q3. Are
the fonts used appropriate? And Why? A3. There aesthetically
pleasing and there easy to read if I had to say something about the
fonts I would say maybe make that bigger (points to the album name)
its only because people who, like looking from here I cant really
see it as well as I would like to yeah I agree Q4. Can you identify
continuity between the products? A4. yeah defiantly, theres the
same kind of images used, the same locations as your music video so
it shows coherence between the three products and the fonts, there
like, the font are the same Q5. Any other thoughts on improvements?
A5. I would say that there is only this one (gestures to cover
panel) that stands out colour wise concerning the others I would
say you need to add the artists name and album name here, like on
the spine Q6. Which print advert so you prefer out of the two,
each? A6. I prefer the second one I like the first one I like the
second one
6. Consideration of audience feedback This is an overview of
the most common comments that came back in my audience feedback.
The audience felt: That there should be more use of common
conventions of digipaks; such as barcode, the artists and albums
name down the spine and the institution logo. That they felt the
images, settings (mise-en-scene) and filters worked well to signify
the Indie-Folk genre. That the fonts used are appropriate apart
from the size of the album name of the cover panel of the digipak,
that they suggested to make larger. That there is an obvious
coherence between the three products with exclusive mention of
fonts, settings and kind of images. That the cover panel of the
digipak should fit more to the colour scheme of the rest.
7. What improvements should be made? After collection and
reviewing the feedback from my target audience, there were aspects
brought up that I did improve on and some that I would improve on
if I had further opportunity. One adjustment that I made after
looking at this audience feedback was to make sure I had all of the
common conventions of the digipak. I added a reasonable barcode to
the back panel along with the logo for the Universal Republic music
label that was my chosen institution, and a copyright symbol
because the digipacks I studied had them and my audience specified
that a copyright symbol would look professional. A modification
that was brought up (that I would change if I had another chance)
two consecutive times was that I should try and make the rest of
the digipaks house style and colour scheme fit in with that if the
sepia, red tones of the print advert, video and cover panel of the
digipak. The rest of the digipak follows more of a grey and bleak
character and if I could change this I would add a sepia attitude
to the other panels of the digipak so as the whole promotional
package coheres perfectly.
8. Conclusion Overall my audience feel I have been successful
in the creation of a coherent, attractive and promotional package.
The audience feedback I collected, I found to be very important to
the progression and success of my work as it gave me a constant
update of weather I am going about connoting the genre or star
image effectively. The Hypodermic Needle theory is that media can
create a direct, untainted, potent and influential effect on its
audiences. Thus why it is of grave importance that the promotional
package we create is effective but also responsible in giving a
good image across to its audience. This is what would have been
done in the professional industry of making promotional packages
for signed artists, so that they can see it from a unbiased point
of view to create a more efficacious package. Qualitative feedback
allows us to look at why the audience are saying that they dont
like an aspect of the work, or that they dont feel it is suggesting
the correct image of the artist. I believe audience feedback to be
the best way of improving your work.
