In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Conforming? Not Conforming?

• Has a huge masterhead ‘Lmc’ - just like Nme. The title is similar as I wanted to go for an Nme look.

• Most magazines have a direct picture- can grab consumers attention. Also I have used realevent Mise en Scene.

• Has a barcode to look professional with a date and price as Nme does.

• Has a button with text, again adds to professional look, as often Nme do.

• Has a maincoverline, often NME tells stories of bands.

• It has a plain simple colour scheme just like Nme.

• I have selling line at the top.

• I have made the main coverline bold so that it attracts the readers.

• I have also used ‘ plus’ which often occrus in NME.

• Followed the natural C shape. Also followed mise en scene for mag.

• All my text is not aligned together on the left hand side.

• I haven’t put under my magazines title, what it stands for.

• As you can see on the whole I have conformed to the expectations of a magazine, so it is realistic and similar to NME because that is what my magazine is based on.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Conforming? Not Conforming?

• Having a contents title which is bold and eye-catching.

• Sticking to the same font styles as my front cover , such as Jadefedga.

• Adding a page number in the corner.

• Having an advertisement,.

• I went for an NME similar look, so it had to be pretty similar, so my pictures all needed to be aligned.

• All my pictures and text (editorial pillars) are aligned.

• I made sure in all my pictures, all the people had the correct Mise en scene, to blend well with my magazine.

• I put my front cover picture in the table contents often NME do this.

• I added page numbers to all my pictures and included an editors note.

• I included pull quotes to draw the consumer in.

• Again I also did this ‘Plus sign ‘ followed my details of articles etc… to add more depth and news to my magazine.

• I could of included a logo of magazine, but I felt I had a lot of info and news of my toc, that I didn’t have enough room.

• On the whole I feel I conformed to the expectation of a music magazines toc, I feel I had the correct look and style to appeal to my consumers.

• I also added the website to my toc.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Indie Look – Shoreditch look (Trendy) ^

Stereotype, that they like to cool and often in-trend with the latest look.

• Yes I have used the correct clothing. In the front cover they all have long hair – conforms to the indie look.

• In the TOC – and DPS, they have the correct clothing wear also.

What Social Rating?

E-C because it’s aimed at younger people at often these people don’t have high jobs or are unemployed.

• • Age? Sex? 14-25

• I have used the correct language. It was very casual languagebut very informative for instance talking of previous bands.

Examples of Language:

Location: The location was next to the canal, and next to a graffitied wall this conforms to the social group, as the place was very cool laid back, a place you would ‘chill’ with your friends.

How did you attract/address your audience?

• All my media work images are looking towards the reader!

• Language was informal but Informative. For example in my front cover ‘Sex Drugs and Rock N Roll –the Millecent’s Reveal All’ my consumers will want to here such stories about their favourite bands.

• In my DPS – the article talks about how Jack Shane has left his band and trying to move onto bigger things, attracts the reader as they want to find out how he is getting on. Also the language is casual but informative for instance ‘ too paraphrase ‘ is a formal word but then it goes on to quote the smiths which is causal.

• And finally in my TOC, it has catchy Words and in the kickers in the explanatory's too. For instance ‘ Are you Tonkin to me’ is catchy as his last name is ‘Tonkin’

• I have a lot of Exclusives… Also things like Lists of GIGS…

• My advert is Raban – they are very in atm.

• I followed a colour scheme.

All my models are generally Goodlooking or Preety, it does help…

I generally attarcted my audience with Bands, colour scheme, good choice of articles and well used langauge and also locations.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I have learnt that it is essential to have a clear picture.A powerful Masterhead.

A professional Barcode.

More kickers and which are clear, catchy and concise, and include clever things like a button.

I have stuck to a certain style and the importance of this, as I have realised that you have to try to appeal to a certain audience.
