QUESTION 2

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

When planning my music video and ancillary tasks I made sure aspects of each were shown in each product. I really like how sunlight is featured in many music videos for example many of Taylor Swifts. As Taylor Swift is from the same genre as my artist Emma Jones I decided sunlight would be used in my music video and ancillary tasks in subtle and obvious ways. The Pop genre focuses on the Artist image and how they are the main focus using sunlight shining onto the subject really worked to reinforce this

These two shots show how I used sunlight in my video to make the artist the main focus and give a Pop feel.

These images show how I have used lights shining onto the subject in my advert and four pages of my Digi Pak

This page from my Digi Pak relates to my music video. For example the constant repeats of close ups this is because the Pop genre main focus is the artist. It also adds a fun aspect as it Polaroid’s and the target audience teenage girls stereotypically like photo collages of them and their friends it adds a friendship feel.

I used a clip from my music video for my back page of the Digi Pak. This combines my video and my ancillary task the Digi Pak together as it shows this song is featured in the album and is her first single.

QUESTION 3

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

From my audience feedback I have learnt that you have to try things to know if they will work and by getting feedback even on the smallest thing it helps piece together to make a product work. By giving a viewing of my video to my media class I was able to get feedback from media student who knew the codes and conventions of a music video. Students gave me good and even better if points to help me understand what worked and what didn’t. A lot of the feedback was that my clips needed to be slowed down slightly to fit with the slowness of the music this made me realise that when you create something for a long period of time it’s sometimes hard to spot slight adjustments that need to be made. By slowing down the clips it made my video flow a lot better and was easier to watch. Below are the first edited video and the Final edited video this shows how slowing down clips the flow of the video works with the music.

QUESTION 4

4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Facebook

I used Facebook in my construction and research stages of my project. It was used to research how an artist can reach out to their fans and then in the construction stage to produce a Facebook page for Emma Jones where I added her biography for fans to connect to her and find out what she is really like.

Page 14: Evaluation

You Tube

You tube was used in the construction stage of my project to show my video and gain feedback on how I could improve it. I also used you tube in my evaluation as I was able to find clip to relate to my video from real Pop Artists.

Blogger

Blogger has been used to store all my construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of my project it is a easy and clear way to read and is accessible for my teacher and fellow students to ask for advice and give feedback.

Premiere elements

Premiere elements was used in the construction of my music video it to edit the video. This made the video better quality and fit together smoothly.

Photoshop

Photoshop was used in the construction, research and planning stages. For research I tried out different techniques on photos to get an idea of what I needed to plan for my final ancillary tasks. I made a mock album cover and website to plan ideas of what I was going to produce as my real album cover. Without the use of Photoshop I would have had to use publisher. This would have made my work much simpler and less like a real Digi Pak or Advert, I was able to produce professional looking products that related to my artist and genre.

Video Camera I Used a HD video camera to film my music video this made my shots better quality and sharper. This made the editing stage slightly easier as I did not need to adjust the lighting or quality in my shots giving me more time to focus on the smoothness and effectiveness of my music video.

TripodA tripod was used when filming my video this made the camera still so there was no camera shake to distract the viewer.

Computer By using a computer I was able to access many resources for research, planning and evaluating my project. Without a computer I would not be able to edit my video and create my ancillary tasks in an effective way to appear like real media products.
