Finding Articles Article databases index the contents of journals, magazines and

newspapers.

Searchable by author, title, journal, keywords and subject descriptors.

Some contain the full text of the articles, others give you only a brief description.

Different databases for different subject areas (electronic resources by subject).

Use UC-eLinks to access the electronic full text of the articles, or find the location of the printed version.

From off-campus, log in through UC Berkeley proxy server to have access to full text.

Scientific articles from peer-reviewed bioscience journals

1926 - present

UCB access only

Indexes over 6,000 journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings

Citations only - use UC-eLinks to access the electronic full text of the articles, or find the location of the printed version.

Finding Articles: Quick & Dirty

Indexes scholarly material found on the web, much of it peer-reviewed

Unknown dates of coverage

Freely available, but must have UCB authentication to access full text of most articles

Unknown scope

Can customize “Scholar Preferences” to show UC-eLinks
