• Limerick is a city in the west of Ireland. Its population is about 90000.

• Hollywood landmarks include the Walk of Fame (stars given to artists) and the Kodak Theatre that hosts the Academy Awards (the Oscars)

The USA is such an big and important country that it is almost impossible to mention only a few.

• Writers: Mark Twain, E. A. Poe, Hemingway, Paul Auster.

• Actors Paul Newman, Meryl Strip, Leonardo Di Caprio, Julia Roberts.

• Musicians well known not only for singing but also for creating their own styles like rock and roll (Elvis Presley), jazz (Lous Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald), soul (James Brown, Aretha Franklin), hip hop (Eminem).

• Ayers Rock /Uluru (348 m high / 863 m above sea level) is a large sandstone rock formation. It is the biggest monolith in the world.

• It has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings.

• It is sacred to the Aboriginal people of the area.

REMARKABLE PLACES: THE GREAT BARRIER REEF

• The Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef, lies a short distance off the north-east coast and extends for over 2,000 kilometres.

• It is formed by about 3,000 individual reefs and 900 islands.

• The Great Barrier Reef supports a great diversity of life, including many endangered species.

• The most significant threat to the Great Barrier Reef is climate change as well as pollution and poor water quality.
