Energy SourcesEnergy sources provide energy.

Two types of Energy Sources:1. Renewable Energy Sources are energy

sources that can replenish themselves naturally. Examples: Sun, Wind and Running Water.

2. Non-Renewable Energy Sources are energy sources that cannot replenish themselves in a short period of time. Examples: Fossil fuel, coal and natural gas.

Electricity

ELECTRICITY is a type of energy fueled by the transfer of electrons from positive and negative points within a conductor. Electricity is widely used for providing power to buildings, electric devices, and even some automobiles. The energy that is being used the most every day in houses is ELECTRICAL ENERGY.Electrical appliances that operate on electricity.

TYPES OF POWER STATIONS1. Hydroelectric Power Station – A dam is built across

the river. The running water flows through tunnels in the dam to turn the turbines which then drive the generator. Hydroelectric power stations use running water to generate Electricity.

TYPES OF POWER STATIONS1. Wind Power Station – use wind to turn the

blades which drive generators. A high wind speed is needed for wind power to operate effectively.

TYPES OF POWER STATIONS1. Solar Power Station – use the heat from

the sun to heat a fluid to produce steam. The steam turns the turbines and generator to generate electricity

1. Fuel Power Station – use fossil fuels such as coal , natural gas or gasoline to heat water to produce steam. Like solar power stations, the steam turns the turbines and generator to generate electricity.

1. Do not touch electric power points, switches or electrical appliances when your hands are wet.
