A fun way to share a quick story in a very simple multimedia way that EVERYONE can do! We will share some teaching memories through stick figures!!!

Using the topic of energy as a central medium and professional learning communities as primary program delivery framework, the Clay Center will use arts and science integration (STEAM) trainings and digital storytelling to serve as a bridge between middle school formal and informal learning environments.

•We will meet once a month for two hours during January - May 2014. • All sessions during this time will be held at a convenient location.
• Participate at least twice a month online. • We will have a 2 day summer retreat at the Clay Center in June. • To collaborate as a PLC.

•Work with students on an energy lesson which will result in a digital story.
• Work with a select group of students during after school to collaborate and create digital stories to be shared with the clay center.

You will receive a $500 stipend in the summer.
You will receive a $500 stipend after the students’ projects are complete.
OBJECTIVES
•Participants will be able to effectively use technology to create and implement digital stories in the classroom.
•Participants will be understand the role of energy
•Participants will build on already structured PLC to make their network even broader.
•Participants will understand copyright issues when engaged in digital storytelling
•Participants will be able to engage students in the process of digital storytelling
•Foundation in the skills needed to assist and create digital content
•Understanding of the surrounding importance of energy and how it relates to the students
•Network with other school PLC’s to create a community of teachers

Energy FocusWith the ever-expanding natural gas industry growing, historic coal industry and our energy needs changing, West Virginia is situated in the middle of these industries. The program is funded under the idea that students understand their capacity in the energy field.
