My Thriller

• Our thriller is a physiological thriller about about a couple backpacking though Siberia. They are ambushed by a couple of etreamists. What makers our thriller different is the fact that it was all filmed from under the bed in the couples room, so you almost feel like part of the scene.

Similar films

• There are many other films which bare similarities to our thriller such as taken.

• In particular the moment where the daughter is hiding under the bed & caller her dad before she is kidnapped.

• There are high levels of tension and anticipation in both Taken and our thriller.

Similar television shows

• A television show with a similar scene is Grey’s Anatomy (season 6, Episode 23) the hospital shooting where one of the nurses (Bailey) hides under the bed while the Surgeon hides in the cupboard. The shooter finds him and shoots him. This is very similar to out thriller particularly the moment when the couple look at each other before he (David) is shot.

Similar television shows

• Another TV show with a similar scene is American Horror Story (Season 1, Episode 6). In a flash back one of the Characters (Tate) is carrying out a school shooting. There are some people who hide in the library and there are lots of shots of them hiding under desks. You can see them trying to communicate to one another as Tate’s feet can be seen walking around the room.

Our Characters

• In our Thriller we had two main Characters:• David (a strong male)• Ella (a passive female) • Both are somewhat true to the stereotypes of

males and females.

Page 10: Emma

David

• As a strong male who is trying to defend Ella, David is similar to many other male characters in films such as Eggsy from Kingsman: a secret service as he saves the world.

• A male lead who juxtaposes David’s characters is Jonathan Carnahan from The Mummy. Jonathan tries at all costs to avoid conflict and is very happy to let others fight while he escapes.

Page 11: Emma

Ella

• In our scene Ella could be viewed as a classic “damsel in distress” which makes her similar to Prim in The Hunger Games as she waits to be saved by those around her.

• However it is far more common in modern films and TV shows to have the women as a/her own hero such as Roxy from Kingsman: a secret service as she earns her place in the “Kingsman” against all the males characters and her role doesn’t rely on a male to do so for her .
