Man born in a social group, inherits its
culture.
He has acquire it by self efforts through
learning.
It is ‘culture’ that differentiates man from the
rest of the animals.
Culture & its constituents
Language is the chief vehicle by which
culture is transmitted.
Home and school plays a dominant role in
imparting the culture of the group to its
members.
Cultural inheritance is otherwise referred to
as ‘Cultural Heritage.’
• Latin word – “Cultura” – means ‘to cultivate’ or ‘cultivating the mind’
Meaning
• E.B.Tylor• “Culture is that complex whole, which
includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, language, custom and any other capabilities acquired by man as a member of the society”
