+ Introduction to Online Learning

From the video on time management, I learned that my time management style is “the balancing act.” In an online class, it’s very important to stay organized and manage your time well because we have to be self-motivated in order to succeed.

The “tech-ready” video was helpful because the video really explained everything we needed to be prepared for this course. I didn’t know what a plug-in was until I watched the video! This was definitely informative in case I need to download a plug-in for this class!

The video on Organizing for Online Success was informative. I had no idea there were “organizational styles.” The video even recommended tips from Pinterest! The video also suggested online storage programs which are extremely helpful. I use dropbox and google drive so that I can always access my materials, even if I am not at my own computer.

+ 21st Century Skills and ISTE Standards

The 21st Century Skill that I think is most necessary for mathematics is critical thinking and problem-solving. I’m sure many people would agree that these are important skills in any content area. Obviously, in math we solve problems all the time! A lot of times, however, many students skip the critical thinking math! Sometimes, math problems become so formulaic that students don’t really take the time to understand why they’re doing what they’re doing or why they’re using a particular formula over another one. It’s important to understand the reasoning behind the mathematics.

I feel I need the most development in the “Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments” standard. I’m not that tech savvy so I think I will struggle with designing lessons that incorporate digital tools and resources. I definitely want to learn how to utilize the digital resources available to me though!
