Editor’s Role

• The editor’s role is to transfer the footage gathered by the camera person and rearrange the footage to create the sequences for the film. By taking on the role of the editor, I was able to successfully analyse the footage to create a smooth sequence for my film. I was already familiar with this role due to being the editor last year for the opening sequence (AS Level production) so I was able to carefully envision what I wanted my film to look like after editing. Most of the editing was for the sound: I used ‘audacity’ to add in effects to the sound effects that I wanted to use and then exported them to Adobe Premiere Pro CC to place onto the timeline and edit the whole film.

Sound

• Editing the sound was a simple process however, collecting specific sound effects was quite challenging as it needed to match the scenes: the biting sound used for the mouse eating the Moon. After creating the first draft of my final film, I was able to identify where more sound was needed so I went online to look for extra sound. I was able to adjust the volume on Adobe Premiere Pro CC so that the sound wasn’t over powering. Placing the sound wasn’t challenging, however, finding the right sound effects was. It is important to create verisimilitude within the film so that the audience is intrigued to watch it. The sound therefore, plays a very important role In creating a believable world within the film.
