Crossfade Dip to black At the end

To create the opening quote and title we overlaid the text using the title settings. We used a serif font as we wanted it to look professional and formal and used white as it contrasted with the black of the opening scene.

When we had done this we used dip-to-black so that the quote would gradually dissolve into shot and then used cross-fade so that the title gradually faded out and into ‘HOLD ME DOWN’. Also, to create atmosphere we included diegetic sound of the bath running whilst the title page was in shot which then faded out into the non-diegetic sound of the music.

We also included a cross fade of the bokeh lights which then focus shifts into an establishing shot of the Arendale building which was overlaid on top of the video of the subject. This allowed the video to smoothly crosscut to a different scene.

To establish a friendship between the two subjects we included split screen to also show that one another are meeting each other. We did this by over laying the videos on the work area and scaled them both down to 50% in order to fit next to each other.

To edit out video we used premier pro which allowed us to professionally put together and create different effects that we haven’t used before.

to indicate flashback

In order to indicate that the subject is having flashbacks, we included some abstract videos that we made overlaying the same video over one another, and then reversing one video, slowing down another using speed/duration and reducing the opacity of the video on top to 50%

By using the same idea that we used earlier in the video, we repeated the video of character one in the bath from when she is seen after the robbery, and then reversed it and put it during the smoking scene. We also reversed the video of character 4 smoking to indicate it is a flashback further and adhere to the idea that our music video is fragmented and disorientated narrative enigma.

During the last few shots at the end of the video, we slowed down the videos in the nightclub. This was so that it reflected the disorientation felt by the first person view, being character one, from drinking and dancing. This helped make the video more fragmented as we also included some out of focus shots as well which added to this effect. At the end of the video we fast forwarded the shot on the stairs so that we could keep all the videos in time with the beat. This allowed for a smooth change over from crosscuts, cutaways and jump cuts happening throughout the video.
