DESCRIPTION
The Museum de Toulouse wants to be a user-centered museum. A place where the visitor is active in his/her visit. Conversations and exchanges are at the center of its ambition to articulate its professional community and the visitor’s communities, between experts, amateurs and curious... The online museum equivalent of Museum de Toulouse has adopted this outlook, right from its reopening four years ago, betting on the opportunities offered by social media to engage with its visitors. The online museum, is a place of the museum in its own right, as much as onsite places are. Online mediation and content offers are articulated around several platforms, from the website to different platforms like Twitter, Facebook and others. After 3 years of trials with this new approach, with successes and sometimes being not really successful, the museum has thoughts to share on what it takes to migrate institutions to these platforms. The museum wants to share insights about the pitfalls and opportunities of a “participatory” museum, online and ONSITE.
