ECONOMY STRUCTURE OF PAKISTAN (1961-1980)
INITIAL DECADES 1960’S
Ayub Khan (27 October 1958 - 25 March 1969 )
First Martial law (1958-1971).
Golden area for Pakistan Economy.
Pakistan Achieved Highest growth rate
in this period ( 5.82%)
Export increase by 10%.
Tax decrease by 10% of GDP.
INITIAL DECADES 1960’S
Tarbela Dam is the largest
earth filled dam in the world,
was constructed in 1968.
Quaid-i-Azam University was
constructed in 1967.
Industrial assets 66% and
Banking 87%.
NATIONALIZATION AND COMMAND ECONOMY 1970’S
Pakistan Achieved Highest economy avg. of 6.8% per annum.
Pakistan Steel Mills was constructed in 1973, making it thelargest industrial mega-corporation having a productioncapacity of 5.0 million tone's of steel.
Two wars with India;1. Kashmir War in 1965 and ,
2. Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
NATIONALIZATION AND COMMAND ECONOMY 1970’S
Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (14 August 1973 – 5 July1977)
4th President of Pakistan.
The total GDP per capita stood
between 8.4% (in the 1970s) periods
of nationalization.
Bhutto also established the Port
Qasim and Pakistan Steel Mills.
ERA OF PRIVATIZATION 1980’S
GDP Growth Rate↓ 4.88%.
Inflation Rate↑ 10.39%.
Industrial growth rose to a peak
of US $3 billion.
Global black market (narcotic
trade-illegal drugs)↑ world GDP
of 21.6 billion to 36 trillion in the
same year’s.

Agriculture rate is decreased by 25% of Pakistan's total landarea.
Agriculture decrease by 23% of GDP and employs about 44%of the labor force.
Agricultural area reduced by 5.7% of its original land (1973).
DRAWBACK OF ECONOMIC STRUCTURE OF PAKISTAN (1961-1980)
Mining rate of coal is decreased by 2 Billion to 1.2 Billion.
Copper and Gold rate is decreased by $5,000 per ton to $600per ton.
Marble Production is decreased by 42.1% to 28%.
Fuel Rate is decreased by 45 ton's to 34 ton's.
