HISTORY
DUBROVNIK – THE OLD TOWN
Since 1979, the Old Town of Dubrovnik is listed on the
UNESCO World Heritage list.
The Old Town of Dubrovnikis known as the „Pearl of
Adriatic Jadrana”.
It is famous for it’s
almost 2 km long city walls.
They are well known
around the entire world.
The walls protected them from enemies.They were destroyed in an earthquake in 1667.
Dubrovnik
managed to
preserve it’s
baroque
churches,
convents,
palaces and
fountains.
Sponza palace is one of the most beautiful and the richest palaces in Dubrovnik. It was built in 16th century. It’s beauty and richness tell a story of the wealth and culture of the former citizens of old Dubrovnik.
Today it is a place where they
organize weddings.
This is the most famous church in Dubrovnik dedicated to the patron saint St. Blaise.
The Aquarium is located in the St. John’s Fort.
