BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!
Your family and teachers believe in you– be confident! You have been preparing for these tests all year and you
will do a GREAT job! Tonight, we will…
Discuss what the End of Grade Test looks like Create a night-before/morning of the test routine. Review some simple test-taking strategies Consider which strategies will work best for you

WHAT ARE THE EOGS/MSLS (NCFES)?
EOGs are end of grade tests MSLs are measures of student learning which are
now called North Carolina Final Exams Both tests are aligned with Common Core Curriculum
and Essential Standards for the content that is taught.
6th & 7th Graders will take EOGs for Reading and Mathematics (active/inactive) and NCFEs for Science and Social Studies.
8th Graders will take EOGs for Reading, Math (active/inactive), and Science and an NCFE for Social Studies.

WHY ARE THERE EOGS/NCFES? These tests measure student’s progress toward
understanding the concepts that are taught in their courses for that year.
The tests are just one of many measures to determine how well students are grasping the content that is taught.
Do you have any questions about the differences between the EOGS/NCFEs or why they are used?
MARK YOUR CALENDAR Testing begins on May 16th and ends on May 28th with make-up tests for students that were absent on May 30th.
DEVELOPING ROUTINES Go to bed early Eat a protein-rich breakfast (brain
food!) What does protein-rich food mean?
Wear comfortable clothes (bring a sweater/sweatshirt in case you get cold)
Give yourself plenty of time to get ready in the morning before the test so you are on-time
What could your “testing” routine look like? Remember, go ahead and start your new routine soon so it becomes a habit!
