Introduction-What is violence ? -What is domestic violence?-More than 10 percent of men using violence to their wives.-Between 2000 and 2001 , the percentage of domestic violence in Cambodia is increase up to 19.8. 80 percent of domestic violence unreported. -One in six Cambodian women are affected by domestic violence, including physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse, according to a survey by the Project Against Domestic Violence.-According Phnom Penh Post wrote that according to the President of LICADHO said that at least 25 percent of women in Cambodia have experience domestic violence and 20 percent of married women have experience domestic violence.

-According to Cambodia's Women's Affairs Minister, men are strong and more valuable than women . -In our society men are expected to provide money for the family and to demonstrate their strength (which may include disciplining the family).Women are expected to be quiet, managing the household and not refusing sex with their husband. -According to Phnom Penh Post, the laws to protect women from violence are not enforced. -According to Phnom Penh Post, domestic violence perpetrators are "rarely punished" because of the local authorities.

Causing of Domestic Violence-Low education-Poverty-Unemployment-Drinking alcohol-Gambling-Cinema-Mass Media-Sex

Low Education-Domestic Violence happens almost in every family especially in the area where people are low educated and no access to information.-Cambodia was dominated by war for more than 2 decades.-Without education , women keep silent and think it is their family problem-Victim have no brave to call or report to the police.-Effect to the children while they are studying.

PovertyPoverty is also a big problem in the domestic violence . It is related to low education and unemployment .-Pressure of the jobs , make them using violence in the family.-No jobs available, no idea for making money .

Drinking Alcohol or Using Drug

-Lose mind-Lose money-Lose control-Make more power and control over another-More risk-No income-No salary

-No income-Fight family member for money-Steal something for money

-Lose control-Talk with other people-Having second love-Bad Temper-Cruel

-Watch movie of play boy , Ma Fear.-Make people feel want to follow or copy the style of those play boy, and Ma Fear ( Hong Kong Movie ) .-Watch porn

Solution

-Broadcasting about domestic violence-Provide more short course related to domestic violence for people , especially in the rural area.-Government should have strict law for more effective.-Give some advices to committer

Solution

-The Cambodia Women's Crisis Center, a women's organization that advocates for the elimination of violence against women, offer three shelters for women and children who are victims of gender-based violence, which are located in Phnom Penh, Banteay Meanchey and Siem Reap. PP 40-55, BM 70-100, SR (50-60) . Victim can stay at the shelters up to 8 months. The total of victim is 448 in those three shelters. In the shelter have medical care , individual counseling , group counseling , food , clothes, formal education , and vocational training …..etc.-Perpetrator need to punish by leave the house except some cases that victims live in her husband’s family.

Conclusion

All in all, domestic violence is a big serious problem in Cambodia, especially in the rural area and urban areas . The domestic violence is mostly happen between wives and husbands and other members in the family and self-violence (suicide).
