1. Draw a circle with your compass

2. Draw a 2nd circle whose center is on the edge of the first your compass (red)

3. Draw a 3rd circle whose center is on the edge of the 2nd (this on is green)

4. Draw a 4th circle whose center is on the edge of the 3rd (this one is blue)

5 - 7. Using the points at which each new circles intersects the original shape, inscribe 3 more circles (they are purple)

The central circle is now divided into six equal parts. Connecting the points will make a regular hexagon.

To divide the figure into 12 parts, locate the midpoint between two points on the edge of the central circle.

Moving clockwise from that point, repeat the sequence by which you located the first six peripheral circles (red).
