and striking contrast in the novel sense and sensibility. There is contrast between their physical appearances and there is an even bigger contrast between their temperaments their natures and their mental and moral make- ups.

Elinor Elinor Dashwood was a nineteen years old eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dashwood and the Heroin of Austen’s novel. She represent sense. Elinor composed but affectionate, both when she falls in love with Edwards ferras. when she comforts and supports her younger sister Marianne.

Marianne Marianne was a seventeen years old second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dashwood. Marianne’s spontaneity excessive sensibility, and romantic idealism lead her to fall in love with the debaucherous John Willoughby though he painfully spurns her causing her to finally recognize her misjudgment of him. After this turn of heart she ultimately marries her long standing admirer colonel Brandon.
