WHAT’S A DIAMANTE?

A diamante is an unrhymed seven-line poem. The beginning and ending lines are the shortest, while the lines in the middle are longer, giving diamante poems a diamond shape. “Diamante” is the Italian word for diamond, so this poetic form is named for this diamond shape.

JONATHAN’S REFLECTION

“ When I first heard that we were working with poems I wasn’t sure how I would go. I thought it will

be a real challenge because I am not the best with words. Doing a Diamante really surprised me, I thought this was going to be too

hard and I was going to fail.

AKON’S REFLECTION

“Doing poetry in our class is something good but us kids being

able to teach the class with a partner is even better. Working with

Jonathan is great and I haven’t worked with Jonathan before and for the first time I thought it was great.

Overall I really liked our project.
