Some and Any: usually determines both plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

Examples:I draw some (pictures). There isn’t any (milk) in the refrigerator.

(pictures) plural countable noun(milk) plural uncountable noun

Use “some” in positive sentences:

The children have some books.They have some money.

Use “any” in negative sentences and questions:

Negative sentences: • He doesn’t need any stamps.

Questions: • Do you have any friends in Chicago?

In the same way as (some/any):

Use “any” in positive sentences when the real sense is negative:

I refused to give him any money. means ( I didn’t give him any money).
