WHAT IT IS?

This technique does consist of talking about our emotional reactions as well as checking the real feelings of others. In describing true feelings and reactions there are two major points in the statement:

• The pronoun I or my.• Naming or describing the feeling.

This allows each person to know how the other feels. By describing feelings and responses, you could clarify any misinformation that may have developed from facial expressions, your breathing, the tone of your voice and even your words.

One of the major problems in communication is misunderstanding and misinterpretation.
