Music Editing• Editing music can be done by using the

program Audacity, which is free to

download at: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Split Stereo Track

• This separates the lyrics from the

instruments. Sometimes the song is

already separated, but it’s recommended

to do this anyway.

Before you edit a

song…• You obviously need a song. So make sure

you have one on hand before using this

program. Audacity can edit a majority of

music files, but MP3 format is the best

kind to edit.

Open up Audacity, and edit

away.

• Once you open up Audacity, you would

need to open up the music file that you

have into the program.

Once uploaded, it will look like

this…

Inverting the bottom

track.• The bottom track is the lyrics. Inverting

helps aid in removing the lyrics from the

song.

Set both tracks as “Mono.”

• This will finish up the lyric removal

process. And then, you are finished, and

should have a instrumental song, which

can be edited afterwards by putting your

own lyrics to it, or clipping it to a ringtone.
