Time- may be fast or slow.
Space- determines the position of the dancer in relation to the background.
- it determines the posture of the body----standing, lying, crouching, stopping, remaining still, etc.
Dynamics- determine the rhythm.
Rhythmic Movements through Dance
O Dance consists of an arrangement of steps and rhythmic movements set to musical or rhythmic accompaniment.
O It may be performed for entertainment, as part of rituals, or the expression of inner thoughts and emotions.
O The diversity of dance is result of the local history, geographic, climatic, and cultural differences found in various parts of the country.

O The dances of the majority of the Filipinos reflect their regional characteristics, customs, traditions, and languages.
For Example:The dance of itik-itik depicted above as an example of a Tagalog dance imitating the movements of ducks.

O Is an important component of dance.
O The movement of dance can also be an interpretation of the music.

O The music and sequence movements of the dancers, the scenery, and the costumes all contribute to the dance impact on the audience. Along with the technical skill and expressive power of the dancers, these create a kind of spell on the audience.
TINIKLING
The dance tinikling is a very popular Filipino folk dance in Leyte. The dance exhibits the skill and dexterity of movements of the Filipino dancers.Tinikling is derived from the word “tikling,” a rice bird with a long neck and very long legs, sharp bill, and soft feathers. It preys on the grains of rice in the ricefields.
Observe the following while viewing the Dance
a. Theme- what does the dance portray?
b. Movement- is it fast or slow? What feeling or emotion does it convey?
c. Music- does it relate to the dance for which it was created?
d. Spectacle- does the costume, the movement, as well as the music contribute to the excitement created in the viewer?
