ASSURE: Day One

Assure Method

Day One:

Analyze the Learner:

This is a third grade classroom in the third month at the time. There are eight boys and

ten girls.Seventy percent of this classroom is white and thirty percent are African-Ameri-

can. The socio-economic status of this classroom comes from a middle class family.

State Objectives:

Audience: Teaching the process of manufacturing raw materials to a final product to a

third grade classroom made up of eight boys and ten girls. Seventy percent of this

classroom is white and thirty percent are African-American.

Behavior: My students will develop and demonstrate how raw materials are grown or

where you find raw materials.

Conditions: By:

1.) Listening to a podcast of an overview of what manufacturing is.

2.) Making a blog on blogger.com and posting what they think manufacturing is, and

then reading each others posts and responding.

Page 2: Day 1 for Manufacturing Unit Plan

3.) Making a poster about the raw materials or materials in general used to manufac-

ture, and a glogster to illustrate a media poster on manufacturing.

Degree: With 100% accuracy they will understand the concept of raw materials and

where they come from.

Select Methods, Media, and Materials:

Incorporating the different learning styles of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic I will pro-

vide three different methods. These methods would be make the material visual

(posters), audio (podcasts), and tactile kinesthetic (blogs). Auditory and visually meth-

ods fit well with these tools, but to make blogs more hand on we can have classroom in-

teraction.

The medias I would use for day one would be posters, glogsters, podcasts, and blogs.

These medias are great for any age and really bring the 21st century classroom to life.

The materials I would use is research based information and any other blogs, podcasts,

or posters other administrators have used in the past that were affective in their class-

room.

Utilize Media and Materials:

I would make sure I prep my materials the day before to have each task take the

amount of time expected. The students are only engaged when the teacher is prepared

and ready to deliver the message. I would follow the 5 Ps.

Evaluate and Revise:

Page 3: Day 1 for Manufacturing Unit Plan

Never wait till the end of the unit to evaluate because then you won’t be able to revise. I

would ask critical thinking questions during the unit to make sure I am on track. It is also

important to bring the class together and talk as a class to make sure everyone is on

point during the week. If a child is not on target with the degree of accuracy I would

make a modified version of the tools to bring the child up on level.
