What is Creativity?

• Creativity refers to the invention or origination of any new thing (a product, solution, artwork, literary work, joke, etc.) that has value. We use our imaginations to " make up" something new and valuable,

• “Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing. Innovation is the production or implementation of an idea. If you have ideas, but don’t act on them, you are imaginative but not creative.” — Linda Naiman

• “Creativity is the process of bringing something new into being…creativity requires passion and commitment. Out of the creative act is born symbols and myths. It brings to our awareness what was previously hidden and points to new life. The experience is one of heightened consciousness-ecstasy.” —Rollo May, The Courage to Create

What ‘creative’ features are used in Horror trailers?

• Some trailers use direct address to really grab the audiences eye.• Special effects are often used in horror trailers with strobe/flashing

lights. Graphic scenes rely on the use of horrifying shots or special effects, which can be mechanical effects that are shot live during filming or optical effects that are later added to the footage using computer-generated imagery (CGI).

• In every horror trailer they have the same man speaking selling the story to us, giving us a sneaky little bit of information about the film, his voice is deep, scary and tends to put the viewers on edge.

• In the majority of Horror trailers they always start at a steady slow pace and about half way through it tends to speed up dramatically and really reaches its climax showing us a variety of different scary clips in the film.

• Often in the editing stage there is always objects falling all over the place, mainly furniture or ornaments.

• The lighting is crucial in horror films you always need dark, dull depressing scenes to really feel the Horror mood. If the scene needs more darkness the creative features in the Editing scene will allow you to add to it more so.
