Welcome to MAH’s
C3: Creative Community Committee
We’re revitalizing our community programs
at the MAH and are aiming this year to
have stronger community engagement in
our programs.
In order to do this we need your help in
establishing what our community’s needs
are and how we can help meet them.
6 main goals for Community Programs:
Meets Community NeedsMeets the needs of our community
as defined by our community.
Encourages New RelationshipsProvides platforms for visitors to make new connections and develop
existing relationships through dialogue and collaboration.
Strengthens Community BondsStrengthens groups in the community through
collaborative programs with numerous and diverse
community members.
Bonding and Bridging Communities
as defined by Robert D. Putnam
Bonding:
Strengthening
relationships with
pre-existing social
groups in the
community.
Bridging: Bringing
different and
diverse social
groups together
that might not
typically interact
with one another.
Invites Active ParticipationVisitors can get meaningfully involved in hands on
cultural experiences.
Connects People to Creativity and ArtProvides experiences that allow individuals and groups to
explore their creativity and learn new artistic processes.
Connects People to Local
History and CultureActivities reflect upon the history
and culture of Santa Cruz County.

Communities
Let’s pick some key communities to focus
on this evening.
These communities can be defined by shared
characteristics, geography, social networks, locality,
common interests, cultures or ethnicities.
Workshop
• Break into small groups.
• Establish your chosen community’s greatest needs.
• Brainstorm projects that help meet these needsand also meet our community program goals.
• List possible collaborators for each project.
Vote on One Cluster to Present
Please describe the project and possible collaborators.
• What community need does this project meet?
• How would it strengthen, bond or bridge the
community?
• What would the goals of this project be?
• How would you define and evaluate success?

• Choose one person to briefly present
your project.
• Please write down any additional
