2. Create a LAMS Sequence

Click the Author in Lams button on the myPLS Learning Activities Portlet.

Drag and drop activities from the Activities Toolkit onto the authoring space.

2. Creating a LAMS SequenceDouble click on an activity box to edit the content and behaviour. It will open up to an editing view.

The Tabs

All activities contain three tabs in the editing view:

•The Basic tab controls the content of the activity.

•The Advanced tab controls how the activity behaves.

•The Instructions tab allows authors to comment on the activity itself.

Either select names from the Available list and click Add...........or click Add All.

Complete this step by clicking OK.




LAMS Activities

There are four different types of LAMS activities:

•Informative

•Collaborative

•Assessment

•Reflective


Informative Activities

• Notice Board

• Share Resources

• Spreadsheet

• Image Gallery

• Pixlr

The Informative tools in LAMS allow Teachers to share information with Learners, and (in the case of Share Resources) allow Learners to share information with each other.Informative tools display on the Authoring Canvas with an orange icon.


Collaborative Activities

• Forum Activity

• Chat and Scribe (ss)

• Forum and Scribe (ss)

• Share Resources and Forum (ss)

The Collaborative tools in LAMS allow Learners to team up and solve problems, discuss ideas or share solutions together.


Assessment Activities

• Assessment

• Multiple Choice

• Submit Files

The Assessment tools in LAMS provide a vehicle for sequence monitors to collect Learner responses to a topic.


Reflective Activities

• Question and Answer

• Survey

• Notebook

• Data Collection

• Mind Map

• Voting

Reflective tools ask learners to analyse their own learning throughout a sequence, or alternatively, collects responses from students and asks them to consider trends in the resulting data.
