•Media is a mean of transmitting the message, thought opinion and view point. Its purpose is to facilitate communication and learning.
What is Media?
• The media which uses electronic energy to transmit information to the end user is called electronic media. • It appears as TV, radio, computer, internet, movies etc.
What is Electronic Media?
Objective of the Study
• To know and avoid the negative impact of media on education and transform them into positive impact so that media can inform, educate, entertain and persuade people in a more responsible manner.

•A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information, or data. It has the ability to store, retrieve, and process data.
• Computers have changed the way we work, be it any profession. The role of computers in education has been given a lot of importance in recent years. This is why the education system has made computer education a part of school curriculum.
Advantages
• Storage of information.
• Better presentation of information• Audio-visual aids in teaching
• Access to the internet.
• video conferencing.• Distance learning.• Research and entertainment.
Limitations
• Its expensive.• Needs a proper infrastructure
for functioning.• User has to master necessary
skills to use it effectively.• Data and system crashing
problem.• Requires regular virus
management.

• The Internet is a global network connecting millions of computers. More than 100 countries are linked into exchanges of data, news and opinions• For the students the internet is widely used to gather information for the research or add to the knowledge of any sort of subject
they have.
Advantages
• Information from all over the world is made available at the doorsteps at
one click
• Video Conferencing is possible.• Allows distance learning and online courses
Limitations
• It is not accessible without a computer• It is expensive• User should be techno
savvy for effective use of internet. • It is not suitable for
illiterates and those having no knowledge about the operation of Internet
5.Cinema
• Cinema, or motion picture, is the art of moving images; a visual medium that tells stories and exposes reality• Today life of man has grown
complex, full of worries, cares and anxieties. Thus, Cinema has become the most popular form of recreation
Role of Cinema in Education
• Almost every film shows something about the activities and customs of the people in other lands. By seeing such films, one learns a lot about human activities.
e.g. : (Little Women -The March sisters live and grow in post-Civil War America.)
• Some films show the battles that were fought in the past• how man has struggled
through the centuries to remove discomfort from his life
e.g. :(lagaan)
Advantages
• Even illiterate people can be benefited what they cannot acquire from books owing to their inability to read, they can acquire from films
• A motion picture based on a classical novel will motivate students to read or reread the book
e.g. : (Jane Austen's- Pride and Prejudice)
• The great personalities of former times come to life and their message is communicated to the people.
e.g. : Rajit Kapoor in The making of the Mahatma
Limitations• For every educational topic we
cannot resort to cinema.• Cause of propagation of some
social evils.• Immoral movies leave a bad
impression on young minds.• The substandard catering of music
and recreation is likely to injure public taste and outlook and is not ultimately good for the art.
