VOCABULARY REVIEW FOR THE RENAISSANCE AND
SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION
Looking back through your notes, choose 2 vocabulary words you think are
important ones to remember when talking about the Renaissance and
Scientific Revolution!
Once you have 2 take a strip of construction paper and write one word on one
side and then flip it over and write the other word. Along with writing the word,
add pictures, names, facts that would help you remember it.
For Example:

reform…instead the catholic

- he posted his 95 Theses on the church door in
Wittenberg (Germany) on October 31st, 1517
*God’s grace or salvation was won not by good works
or even going to church but by having FAITH!

of religious truth and that everyone
should be able to read it in their own language.

• Became a priest but had many ideas similar to Luther
• Stressed importance of Bible
John Calvin• Born in France but est. his
theocracy in Geneva, Switzerland
• Strict rules
• Doctrine of predestination – God determined long ago who would be saved. Two kinds of people – saints and sinners.
• Instituted a theocracy – church and state jointed together. Strict Laws!
