Yale Behavioral Neuroscience
• A course of study in Behavioral Neuroscience emphasizes an understanding of the basic mechanisms of behavior through the knowledge of their physiological substrates, and an appreciation of their varying or similar forms in different organisms. A major concentration of faculty interest is in the psychobiology of learning and memory.

PhD Requirements
• Course: 4 core courses, one on stats, one in home area (BN), one outside home area (CL, CG, DV, SP), two Honor credits and average High Pass required to enter 3rd year
• TA: 9 TF credits (usually 3 TF3 level courses)
• Research– 1st year: 1st year paper plus presentation (30 min) at seminar
(spring)– 2nd year: pre-dissertation prospectus (fall) and paper plus
presentation (1 h) at seminar (spring)– 3rd year: theme assay (fall, serve as qualifying exam) and
dissertation prospectus (spring)– 4th to 5th year: dissertation (5-person committee) closed
meeting and open oral defense at seminar (spring or fall in the 6th year)
Career Outlook
• Academia– Post doc (Harvard, Yale, MIT, UCSD…)– Faculty at teaching college (Yeshiva, Quinnipiac..)
• Industry– Pharmaceutical (Pfizer, Teva Marion…)
