It is placed at the very top of the page to indicate it is the title which lets the reader know what will be on the page and it doesn’t interfere with the image. The main image is at the top of the page with members from a band. It is an action shot of them playing at a gig where we can see two guitarists and a drum set in the background. This relates to the rock genre of the magazine. This will attract readers as the people reading this magazine will be fans of this music genre therefore any sort of news relating the rock genre will appeal to them and they will want to read about it. It is also the biggest thing on the page which makes it very eye catching and shows that it is the most important thing on the page and that there will be a big article on that band. The page numbers are printed in fairly big and bold red font. This makes it clear to the reader what page each separate thing is on and makes it much quicker and easier to find rather than going through all the pages one by one to get there. It is a well known convention of a contents page. There is a subtitle written just below the main image which says ‘Kerrang! This week’ then below this has all the page numbers and article briefs. This is key as it informs the reader what will be featured in this week magazine. The font is big and bold and is white and yellow, this makes it very eye catching and along with the main title, it is one of the first things the reader will see The layout is very simple and easy for the reader to follow. By having the big picture at the top of the page gives a nice space to put some of the main articles that the reader may potentially want to read. Also by having it where only half the page is taken up by the text is because they have two separate contents pages. One for regular feature that are in every months issue and other articles which vary each magazine. There are summaries of each articles, this gives a brief description of what the article is about. Often using key and exciting information to try and make the reader interested and want to read it. The summaries are all under subtitles which are following the main colour scheme of the magazine therefore it makes the small writing look a lot more interesting. The other images on the page are not as important as the main image but are very important on the contents page. The other images relate to the same genre as the first which is rock, portraying that it is a rock magazine. The people in the other images are clearly not as important as the ones in the main image which we can clearly see through the size of the pictures but people still may be fans of these people which will be good for them as they will see it and want to read more into the article they are featuring in. The date and issue number is placed under the main title ‘contents’. This is useful for collectors or big readers of the magazine as they can see when it came out to be able to put them in order. Also it helps to let other people know of the success of the magazine as they have had over 1300 issues there they are clearly a well read and successful magazine otherwise they wouldn’t still be going.
