In 1890, Herman Hollerith developed a method for machines to record and store information onto punch cards to be used for the US census. He later formed the company we know as IBM (International Business Machines) today.

The Z1 originally created by Germany's Konrad Zusein 1936 to 1938 is considered to be the first electrical binary programmable computer.
