Composition

This shot of a popular restaurant in Baldock is a good example of composition. As seen by the guides on top of the photo, the rule of thirds has been taken into consideration when taking this photo. “The George” signage in the picture is positioned along the left third to attract the viewers attention. The corner of the building is positioned in the middle of the composition whilst the side of the building and walkway to the right of the photo lies in the final third.

This shot of the countryside surrounding Baldock is another example of composition. The red lines show that the composition splits the photo into three equal areas; the hill in the foreground, the hill further away and the horizon line where the sky meets the tree line. The rule of thirds helps create a well composed, professional photograph.
