What is Facebook?◦Facebook is an online social networking website that lets you post pictures, videos and make status updates so all of your Facebook friends can like, comment or share them, and vice versa.

◦More than 1 billion people are on Facebookand use it to communicate and interact withtheir Facebook friends.

The features of Facebook◦On Facebook you can like, comment, post status updates

and message you Facebook friends.◦This is convenient for businesses and organizations to

reach out to the ones who like their page.◦It also is an easy way to help communicate different announcements and ads to their followers.◦Every Facebook page has an information tab that can direct you to the business or organizations main website or contact infowhich makes it easier for followers to get in touch.

How did Facebook come about?◦Mark Zuckerburg launched Facebook on February 4th, 2004.

Businesses on Facebook◦Many businesses and non-profit organizations are on Facebook, whether it’s a local business, or world wide.

◦Facebook makes it really easy for businesses an d organizations to get a jump start on their advertising and promoting.

◦They also have tutorials and tips for setting up your new page.

What is… Dunkin’ Donuts?◦Dunkin’ Donuts is a coffee and doughnut chain that have thousands of different locations.

◦It is an extremely well known coffee and doughnut

place, especially around New England.◦When you visit the page it tells you all of the nearby locations that you can go to.

◦Dunkin’ Donuts is constantly advertising their many deals that they have for their customers, but they took it to Facebook to let almost everyone know just what they have to offer.

How their page works◦The 12,963,933 people who “like” the Dunkin’ Donuts page will see a Dunkin’ deal or ad whenever they are on Facebook.

◦They also have a tab where a user canask a friend to like this page◦For example, Facebook helps Dunkin donuts advertising techniques because they are able to post about their free coffeedeal the day after the Pats win.

What is… The ALS Association◦The ALS Association is a non-profit organization that is on the mission to treat and cure the Amyotrophic Lateral disease.

◦The Association is best know for the “ALS Ice Bucket Challenge”.

◦This was mostly used through Facebook, a video of you pouring Ice water over you head and then nomination Facebook friends and family to do the same, in hopes of spreading awareness.

How their page works◦Although they have a very popular Facebook page, with 967,719 likes, this wasn’t the only way Facebook helped the organization.

◦The “ALS” Ice bucket Challenge was a world wide Facebook Phenomenon.

◦This made almost everyone who had not known about ALS aware of what it is and how they could support the cause.◦They also have a tab where a user canask a friend to like this page.

How Did Facebook help the “Pats Win You Win” Ad A media success?

◦The “Pats win, you win!” advertisement wouldn't’t have been as

well known without social media, especially Facebook.◦Facebook also helped them advertise their MyDunkin’ app, which is an app that you need in order to get the Pat’s day deal.

◦Facebook has help made Dunkin’ Donuts franchise even more successful.

How did Facebook help the “ALS ice bucket challenge” a media success story?

◦Without Facebook, the videos for the ALS Ice Bucket challenge possibly wouldn't’t have been able to reach out to as many people as they did.

◦Many people are friends with far away family members and friends on Facebook as opposed to other social media sites which made it helpful to share it and make it trend quickly.
