A hello.

This is a story about Positivity. Adventure. Discovery. Triumph. Happiness. Global Connectedness. A story about three young American college students setting out on a journey across India to create a film about young people changing the world. A Headmaster. A Dancer. A Banker. A Buddha Boy. An Inventor. (Just to name a few.)

Through these interactions, we hope to discover what inspires these individuals, what pushes them forward, and how they envision the future of our world.

At the end of June, we will be departing from everything we hold familiar and heading to India. We are traveling the length of the country by train, car, rickshaw, and whatever other means necessary.

We have a hunch that the magical moments along the journey will be the ones we never set out for, and the moments we could never have planned. We bring with us a western conception of what makes a hero. However, the people that we meet along the journey may not be setting out to change the world, but are doing so through their attitudes.

There is no knowing what will happen in these two months, or how we will be changed by them. We invite you to join us for the journey.

Namaste!

Alex, Colin, and Kumar.

Every afternoon, Babar - a poor student himself - holds free classes for the young underprivileged students of his village. He has done so for the last 8 years after he founded the school. His school provides not only provides education to hundreds of children, but also hope, a sense of belonging and a feeling of self-worth.

The Buddha boy. Ram. 18 years old. ?

There are people whose effect on society can only be measured by the way they open our minds to dream. Ram is a boy, born in Nepal, whom many in Northern India believe has reached enlightenment. He was discovered meditating underneath a tree in 2005 in a remote jungle, reportedly forgoing food or water. He sat there for 10 months, drawing millions of visitors. The Discovery Channel did a segment around him. The commentator concluded: “After 96 hours of filming, Ram has defied modern science by continuing his meditation and remaining alive.”

Ram was last seen in 2008 in a village near Katmandu. His devotees believe he attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya in Bihar, India—the same place where Siddartha Gautama attained enlightenment.

The Notebooks.

We will be giving notebooks to the people we meet along our journey in India and asking them to document their thoughts over a month long period. They will be provided with an addressed envelope with paid postage. After we receive their notebooks in the mail, we will be tying in the writing as a narrative in our film. The idea is for each of these people to tell their own stories. We received a donation of 250 custom-made “Scout Books” from a company based in Portland, Oregon called Pinball Publishing.
