2. In this village we are going to get three types of soil . Thesoil which is mostly found in this region is Alluvial blacksoil also called ()Alluvial Soils are Heavy and have high water holdingcapacity. They are also rich in Nutrients 3. This Soil is found up to a depth of 15 feet. They get verysticky with rain and retain moisture for a long time. Whenthey dry up they tend to Crack causes what is called self -ploughing and causes fertility. 4. Some parts of the Village near to river on the westand south have sandy soils.But most of the soils of this region are fertile and ifwater is available it is possible to raise two or threecrops a year. 5. This Region Receives rains fromJune to October from south westMonsoon how ever as there are norains after October it is necessaryto irrigate the lands with watereither from canal or the wells ortanks. 6. The Lands towards the western and northernside or Higher elevation and cannot be easilyIrrigated with canal water. In such areasfarmers use bore wells . As Pennamakuru isvery near to river Krishna the ground water canbe found by digging for only 15 to 25 feet.Hence the expenditure on digging bore wells isvery low. On the banks of Bandar Canal live 15-20 Basket weavingfamilies. They migrate to this village for work. Their mainoccupations are making baskets, catching rats or rearing pigs.Jagannadha Nancharayya settled here about 30 years back.They collect date palm strands from the banks of canal formaking baskets. He and his wife make 5 6 baskets per dayand sell them in near by villages. Their neighbor Katta Siviahcatches fishes with the help of basket traps and sells them innear by village 24. Bandar Canal 25. PoultryThe village has a fully mechanized poultryfarm. Water is supplied through nipples andfood is supplied by the conveyers. There areabout 80,000 hens in this poultry layingabout 50,000 eggs each day. These eggs aresent to Vijayawada and other states likeAssam and Bihar through agents. Thechicken dropping is sold as fish feed tofarmers in near by area 26. Mechanized Poultry Farm 27. This helps in marketing ofthe produce.The farmers of this village sell sugarcaneto near factory which is located at Vuyyuru.The vegetables and banana are supplied toRaithu Bazar Which is in Vuyyuru andVijayawada, The paddy is sold in the fieldsitself through brokers. 29.
