Repair mouldings, doors and windows
The first thing to do before starting work will be:-
• Protect surrounding work areas from damage .
• This could be a temporary hording and fence to dust sheets on the ground.
Mouldings such as architrave and skirting boards generally would need to be replaced rather than repaired, however in some cases a repair may be required. The repair work is called splicing.

Once the area has been repaired, it should be treated with a preservative and finished to match.
