ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Christmas Carol is a thought provoking story. It deals with the human life and it’s transformation. The story revolves around Ebenezer Scrooge who was rude towards people and didn’t enjoy his life.He hated Christmas since his childhood .He had a business partner named Jacob Marley,who was long dead.He had a clerk Bob Crachit,whom he paid fifteen shilling per week.He failed to revive the love of his nephew.Scrooze was quite vicious

One day Jacob Marley ‘s ghost haunted him and made him realise how it was life being in the hell.The ghost warned him and told him that three ghosts would appear one by one and would make him to realise his mistake .He showed him that he had to pull heavy chains in the hell for the sins he had commited throughout his life. He told scrooge that he was tortured in hell and wanted him to change his attitude.

As told by Jacob the ghost of Christmas past appeared first. The ghost haunted Scrooge and took him to his past life in which they saw many faces of Scrooge.They

saw how scrooge was a lonely boy in school who failed to receive the love of his sister and his early years as an apprentice. Scrooge’s lover had left him for he became selfish

and greedy for money in his adulthood. All those years Scrooge had been lonely and hateful. Unable to resist the past, he hit the ghost with an object and the ghost’s light

faded away.

Then came the ghost of Christmas present. The ghost looked lavish and shone brightly with ornaments It took Scrooge to Bob’s house and showed him how happy they were

even with scarce means.Scrooge broke down when he saw Bob’s crippled son’ Tim .After that,the ghost took him to his nephew,s house.Fred ,scrooge’s nephew had hosted a christmas party.Scrooge wished to join them but couldn,t.Suddenly,the ghost started falling and Scrooge once again returned to bed.

At last , the most fearful of the three, came the Christmas future .The ghost took scrooge to the future when he would have been dead. It showed him that all he would have cheap funeral and nobody would even care to perform his last rites.Scoorge got afraid when he saw a body covered up with ragged sheet in mortuary. His maid would have stolen off all the goods in his house. The only one who would have care of his death would be Fred. The ghost also showed that tiny Tim would die in the future. Scrooge realised his mistakes sitting in front of his dead body and the ghost vanished away.

SCROOGE’S TRANSFORMATION

Scrooge came to the real world again. He felt the shadows of future can be erased. After realising his mistakes , a transformation occurred in him and he started loving others. On the Christmas day , he was eloted and greeted everybody .He went to Fred’s house for Christmas party .Thereafter he became the most cheerful and helpful person in the city

Scrooge is transformed and he goes to Fred’s house with shame.Seeing them accepting his presence ,he has a wonderful party and invites all people to his house for next christmas.
