Communication in the Workplace

Communication and non-technical skills matter when acquiring a job,even for web development

There are plenty of web development-related positions, but all make use of communication in some way

Effective communication will be required when working with clients and potential team members

Having empathy in communication can boil down to not being a jerk to people, but its really having the ability to understand how someone else feels. This is an especially important skill to have when working on a team or with clients. (Wright, 2014)Discussing work to others in clear and understandable lingo is important as a developer.

Job Outlook

Each web development position usually requires HTMLand CSS as a baseline skill

Employers want diversity in a developers skillset, not justthe fundamentals

Experience or knowledge in project management techniquesare a big help

This almost always includes HTML and CSS, but as you move forward from there, you need to consider what clients you want to work with and what websites or apps you want to build. (Connell, 2014). There are many different skills you can and need to learn as a developer.

ConclusionTheres more to web development than meets the eye

Communication is a large part of web development

Being educated in many skillsets is a huge help infinding a job
