GLYCOGEN AND TOTAL CARBOHYDRATES

Glycogen is on eof the important stored metabolites its variation in Antheraea mylitta reveals that its content declines on day -1 ends increases till day 4 and there after the concentration gets depleted very significantly of about 16.5%of the initial concentration this decline could be attributed to its utilization during embryogenesis for energy production.

Con,,,

The carbohydrates are utilized during early stages of development as their contents decline till day-3,the total carbohydrates reestblish their original concentration on day-6 suggesting not only their utilization during early developmen tbut also the usbsequnet resynthesis there of as development proceds.

Proteins & aminoacids

During early stages of embryonic development the pre-existing proteinacios yolk reserves apper to under go breakdown resulting in the lowering of protein concentration &a concurent rise in that of free amino acids

Lipids :a/c to Agarwal et al (1981)24hrs old egg of Antheraea mylitta consist of 4%lipids,2.58% fatty acids in terms of fresh wt and 64.5% fatty acids in terms of total lipids .

ACID & ALKALI PHOSPHATE ACTIVITY The acid phosphate activity increases 2

fold on day 3 & with a subsequent decline on days 4&5 & depicting maximum activity on day 6 that is prior to hatching.

Alkaline phosphate on the other hand with more or less the same type of variation as its counter part retains the initial activity prior to hatching.

Page 8: Chemical chainges doring embryogensis prabha

However, the activity is maintained all along at a lower level than that of acid phosphate.
