Microsoft Checklist Manager Extension for Microsoft® Amalga™ Unified Intelligence System (UIS) Description In his book The Checklist Manifesto , Dr. Atul Gawande describes his experience at the World Health Organization developing and evangelizing the idea that the use of simple checklists can have a dramatic impact on quality of care. The Checklist Manager extension for Amalga UIS makes it simple and straightforward for an organization to establish standard checklists and promote their use as part of regular care. How it works The WHO 2009 Surgical Safety checklists are installed by default with the Checklist Manager extension, and new or edited checklists can be created easily. The status of checklists can be displayed in the data grid in context of the visit or with other information, and can be filled out directly within the Amalga UIS interface using a simple dialog. The dialog uses large fonts and clear visual indicators such as coloring to make clear which steps have been completed and which steps are yet to be done. For end users, operation of the checklist dialog is mostly self-evident – they simply check the boxes and radio buttons for each item as appropriate, then click the “Save Checklist” button when finished to post the status to the database. For situations in which completing a checklist on a terminal is not possible, standard checklists can be easily printed for manual use. Type of use case Clinical What “job” is being performed? Microsoft Checklist Manager Extension for Microsoft® Amalga™ Unified Intelligence System (UIS)

Description In his book The Checklist Manifesto, Dr.

The dialog uses large fonts and clear visual indicators such as coloring to make clear which steps have been

completed and which steps are yet to be done.
